Technical Development & Design Engineer – Furniture

Technical Upholstery Engineer – Salary up to £30,000 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced development Technical Upholstery Engineer to join the design & development team, reporting directly to the design & development manager. You will be involved in all design stages in the development of newly designed furniture designed for a wide range of end user environments, re-development projects and enhancements, re-engineering and cost saving exercises across our product range.

Hours of work Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.30pm

Key Responsibilities
Be involved in the day-to-day development of new and existing product ranges.
To develop patterns/templates of frames, foams and fabric to a high standard that can be followed and understood by the production teams.
To competently fix upholstery to a high standard using modern and some traditional upholstery techniques using a range of hand tools.
To have input on the engineering of timber and metal framework and componentry.
Assist in creating standard operating and care point procedures.
Assist in creating bill of materials for the products being worked on.
Create product from beginning to end that works for production manufacture.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Understanding on the construction and build of seating and case goods.
High degree of development upholstery skill with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in product development within the furniture sector.
A good understanding of engineering skill that can be applied to product.
First-class interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate within the development team, other departments and external suppliers.
