This is a great opportunity for a Senior Fabric Technologist to work as part of a Senior Operational Management Team, in an innovative and unique developing company in the North West, with global reach.

As this role is within a re-emerging commercial enterprise, you will be required to promote the business via external exhibitions and internal factory visits and work to drive product innovation within the business.

As a senior member of the Management team, you will be required to develop and maintain positive business partnerships by working closely with industry partners, along with ties with various academic institutes such as the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.

You will be managing a team of 2 direct reports with immediate effect (Lab Asst., & Textile Technician), whom are responsible for the creating and maintaining of quality charts, developing & maintaining specifications, shade books for dyed yarns, or processed yarns, along with Certificates of Analysis and Conformity.

You will be experienced with new product design through to production including assessing production capabilities of third party subcontractors, creating critical paths and developing products within a pre-defined cost base.

Further accountabilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining product specifications and testing standards for all cotton yarns
  • Ensuring the HVI and AFIS testing of cotton lint
  • Working with the business unit in creating new product codes for new developments
  • Responsibility for the creating and maintaining records of all internal quality analysis of all internally manufactured process materials (sliver, roving’s, yarn)
  • Liaise with the analytical testing equipment suppliers in regards to issues, maintenance and calibration
  • Liaising with the analytical testing equipment suppliers in regards to issues, maintenance and calibration.


Other aspects and expectations will see the successful candidate take accountability for promotion of the business via external exhibitions and internal factory visits, creating critical reports in respect of product evaluation both internally and for external customers plus supplier audits and site visits.

  • Experience therefore must be c. 10 years,
  • Experience of fashion or homeware fabrics, supplying into high street retailers and other fashion brands.
  • Experience of dyeing and finishing an advantage.
  • Further desired experience includes that with Bentwood, Courtaulds, Coats Viyella, Sr Gent or similar apparel supply business whilst also preferably having worked with Weavers and Knitters.
