Production Operative

We are currently recruiting for a Production Operator for our chemical manufacturing site in Rochdale, operating plant equipment and chemical processes safely and efficiently to maximize production output.

 

You will be trained to use a wide range of processing equipment to manufacture Syntactic materials.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and all near misses, incidents and accidents are reported/investigated.
  • Operate plant machinery to manufacture products following standard operating procedures and in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Setting up batches, checking, weighing and adding materials and physically moving batch materials where required.
  • Complete all batch related documentation accurately and provide suitable handover to on-coming shifts.
  • Clean vessels between batches to ensure no cross-contamination of product and/or materials to subsequent batches.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure targets are met whilst maintaining quality standards and maximizing efficiency.
  • Report plant maintenance work requirements to minimize downtime and cost.
  • Keep work station clean, tidy and organized in line with the 5S approach.
  • Identify areas for improvement and/or cost savings.

Hours of Work:

Starting on days during training, then move over to a 2 rotating shift pattern:

  • Monday to Thursday – 6am to 2pm

Friday – 6am to 1pm

  • Monday to Thursday – 2pm to 10pm

Friday – 1pm to 8pm

 

Key candidate requirements:

  • Strong numerical ability with GCSE Math’s and English. Chemistry or a technical qualification is advantageous.
  • Experience in a manufacturing process environment or the chemical industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent team worker able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Computer literate.
  • FLT Counterbalance license.
