General Engineer

The Company:

The company is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers in the PVC manufacturing industry. Due to new and exciting growth plans, they are looking to recruit a General Engineer on a days based position with hours of work being Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Responsibilities :

•The primary role will involve the General Engineer being hands on with manufacture of tooling/tool repairs and modifications with on-going repair and renewal programmes.

•The candidate will also be required to manufacture accessories associated to the processing of components and fabrics to allow their customers to make an excellently produced product.

•Manufacturer tooling and accessories as detailed by the department manager, for the processing of company components and fabrics, which would enable their customers to produce an excellent product.

•Repair and refurbish customers/company tooling as requested by sales department

•Repair and refurbish component production tooling as requested by the department.

•Reading and understanding drawings

•Using measuring instruments in metric units and/or imperial united necessary for the production of work pieces to the standards outlined by engineering drawings.

•All work produced should be inspected for surface finish, dimensional accuracy and checked for overall quality of the finished component before submitting it completed, to the department manager.

•Safely setting and operating a range machine tools and ancillary equipment necessary to carry out the machining skills of turning, milling, grinding, sparking and wiring

•Produce job sheets accounting for hours taken for specific duties which are to be submitted on a weekly basis

•The sharping and care of cutting tools , routine care and cleaning of machines and ancillary equipment.

•Work in a safe and productive manner as outlined in the company safety policy, paying particular attention to safety when operating machine tool equipment.

About you:

•Successful candidates will have an excellent General Engineering •knowledge with hands on experience of manufacturing.
•Knowledge of Milling/Turning/Grinding and Bench Fitting
•Knowledge of General Engineering practices.
•Capable of working to engineering drawings or from 3D CAD Files
•Knowledge of wire erosion and spark erosion is desired but not essential.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with an hour for lunch.
