  • Company Overview:

    We have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Development Technician to join our client near Ashton-Under-Lyne. The company really are going from strength to strength hence this being such a good opportunity for the right candidate.

    The company design, develop and manufacture sound absorption and heat insulation components predominantly for exhaust system and engine bay applications. The products are widely used by vehicle builders, construction, agricultural, locomotive, ship building and on power generation equipment.

  • Role Specification:

    This is an entry level position working within the development department. The role involves all aspects of new product introduction and will involve working in a variety of areas of the business.

    Main Responsibilities:
    •Involved in developing parts based on customer specifications creating drawings and manufacturing samples.
    •Working closely with shop floor staff to manufacture parts
    •Implementing new parts into our production departments including relevant quality documentation
    •Customer technical log updates as required
    •General part inspection activities
    •Operations support to management
    •Developing LEAN manufacturing processes

  • Person Specification:

    Skills / Knowledge / Experience
    •Qualification / experience of Product Design / Development environment
    •Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
    •Experience of ISO9001, TS16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA will be an advantage
    •2D CAD skills required
    •3D software knowledge advisable but not compulsory
    •Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with staff and customers at all levels
    •Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, NAV
    •Experience in compiling and assisting with process documentation, including Process Flows, PFMEA Control Plans, Standard Operating Procedures

  • Any Other Business:

    This role will not suit a candidate who is looking to purely design all day, this role is heavily involved with production (when testing) and face to face customer meetings, along with department manager
